Quantum Gate Decomposition - from Ideal Quantum Algorithms to Actual Quantum Hardware

This project was done during the CAMMP Week Pro 2025. Our goal was to bridge the gap between theoretical quantum algorithms and practical hardware limitations. We aimed to systematically identify sequences of native quantum gates on the IBM Eagle processor that are equivalent to the idealized gates used in quantum algorithms. While quantum computers offer exponential speedups for certain problems, realizing these benefits on real-world processors like the IBM Eagle requires adapting algorithms to the specific native gates of these processors. Providing these equivalent sequences, the practical application of quantum algorithms on existing quantum hardware can be enabled.
